The worlds latest 49,000 tons of duplex stainless steel chemical tanker launched smoothly

On the afternoon of November 23, 2018, in the festive whistle, the world's newest type of 49,000 tons of duplex stainless steel chemicals was successfully launched in Hudong Zhonghua. This top-ranking chemical tanker, which integrates many of the world's leading technologies, embraces the Huangpu River, and represents the construction strength of Hudong Zhonghua has reached a new level.
The world's newest type of 49,000 tons of duplex stainless steel chemicals was successfully launched. The 49,000-ton chemical tanker was ordered by Shanghai World-owned China ODFJELL CHEMICAL TANKERS AS, a subsidiary of the Norwegian ODFJELL Group.

The ship has a total length of 182.88 meters, a width of 32.20 meters, a depth of 19.80 meters, and a design draught of 11.00 meters. The vessel has 33 duplex stainless steel cargo tanks, one tank and one pump, which can carry nearly a thousand chemicals and refined oils, including petrochemicals, oleochemicals, vegetable oils and lubricants. The maximum full load cargo is 1.67 tons / cubic meter, the maximum load capacity is 49,000 tons, and the capacity is 54,000 square meters. The hull structure meets the Common Specification (HCSR) and meets the requirements of MARPOL and IBC double-shell double bottoms. Equipped with nitrogen generator and cargo tank heating and cooling system, the main and auxiliary machines meet TierIII emission standards, and the installation space of sulfur oxide washing equipment is reserved to meet international environmental protection requirements. The main indicators such as the ship's load capacity have also reached the international advanced level, and the fuel consumption index is very eye-catching and has been well received by ship owners.

Compared with 38,000 tons of chemical tankers, the 49,000-ton chemical tanker has higher technical requirements. For example, the outer plate type is complex, the assembly welding work is large, and the welding workload is 1.5 times that of the 38,000 tons chemical tanker; the unit module precision control is difficult, the module pipeline is complicated, the armor integrity requirements are high, and the construction process management faces huge challenge. The Hudong Zhonghua Construction Team carries forward the spirit of hard work. By actively exploring new technologies and new processes, it has overcome many difficulties, innovated construction techniques, and strived to build a benchmark ship of the same type.
